Fish and Chip Shop Ul. Koszykowa 30, Warsaw.
After visiting a number of times we thought it was about time to write a review of a fish and chip shop that has opened in Warsaw. You are bound to meet an expat or two in there and the staff speak English, so it's just like a home away from home. They are even open to requests if you feel they should be selling something that is not on the menu and we have been told that the owner makes frequent trips to the UK.
On sale are Yorkies, Walker's crisps, Kettle Chips, Marmite, malt vinegar and HP Sauce, and some ales and ciders. On the menu there is battered cod, sausage, even salmon and trout and not for the faint-hearted, deep-fried Mars and Snickers. The chips are hand-made, not frozen, so they look and taste good. We ordered a large cod and chips and the batter on the fish was not bad, but tends to disintegrate by the time you get home. The fish itself was fresh enough. So, all in all, it's worth making the trip if you feel like having a Friday night fish and chip urge. There is even a table and chairs if you want to eat there (and UK.
Remember though, this is not fast food. It is carefully cooked in front of you and sometimes from scratch. I plan my next trip to involve a few beers in the handy pub next door beforehand. Enjoy!
